“The Escape Artist” is an opera that tells the story of a man involved in mayhem, torture and murder, who goes on the run to escape the past only to discover that there is no locale so remote, nor heart so dark, that it cannot be found and redeemed. From the American Wild West to the plains of Tibet and beyond, our hero encounters unlikely teachers disguised as laborers, lovers, and thieves, leading him to one final, life-changing event. With an international cast of world-class musicians, “The Escape Artist” comes to the REDCAT at Disney Hall in a concert version.

Composer Robert Een conducts the International Mystical All-Star Band in this presentation, featuring Angel Bazigou, Billy Goodrum, Mader, Valecia Phillips, Jesse Manno, Toby Newman, Bill Ruyle, Shamou and Gwen Wyatt.
